PhD studies

During his PhD program (duration: 3-4 years), the doctoral candidate must perform original research for his thesis, attend to seminars organized by his group, to colloquia, to national and international conferences, produce publications and write his thesis.

PhD students are strongly encouraged to enlarge their knowledge by attending third-cycle courses of the "Programmes doctoraux de la CUSO" generally held at the EPFL in Lausanne. To be admitted to the PhD program, the student must have been awarded a master degree of science or an equivalent qualification recognized by the University of Fribourg. The candidate must contact a research group (experimental or theoretical physics) who would be interested to his candidature and who is willing to supervise his thesis work. Then, he can follow the application procedure (on the same page: regulation, guidelines and annexes).
